  • Fast Train to Avignon

< Back Fast Train to Avignon Sophie Ward's dream vacation turns into a nightmare when she witnesses a politician's assassination and becomes a target herself, in this thrilling globe-trotting adventure. When corporate lawyer Sophie Ward flew out of Sydney to commence her annual leave which would mostly be spent in France and inaugurating in Paris with a three day stop-over in Singapore, she had no idea of the adventurous and sometimes dangerous circumstances that would be bestowed to her. The first frightening incident eventuated in Singapore where her young guide, Ganesh, she commissioned, was attacked by an angry Macaque monkey. On the TVG train from Paris to Avignon she witnessed the assassination of popular politician Philippe Lapointe, Minister for the Interior whom was an outspoken critic of the enormous problem of crime and corruption in France. He was particularly passionate of stopping the illegal sales of counterfeit French designer luxury goods that helped fund terrorist organizations as well as impacting the income of French industries. Sophie’s life was then under threat as she was the only credible witness to have survived the train attack. She would later be the subject of her own assassination attempts which involved the original assassin that continued to hunt her down. The book presents a thrilling read which explores the great cities of the world. It contains humour, romance and history all in one package. < Back Antique Books Unique books from around world, first editions, signed copies and personal favourites! As a past bookshop owner, Gary always had an affinity for books and started collecting in the late 70’s. Gary was fortunate enough to meet many authors, talk with them about their writing process and the genesis for their stories. One favourite tale he recalls, is how a doorstop became a #1 best seller. At dinner, a budding author talked about his manuscript being only good for holding the door open, when a friend asked to read it! The friend liked it so much, he sent it to an acquaintance in the publishing industry and from there it became a fan favourite and later even a movie. This is the famous story behind Bryce Courtney and his first novel, The Power of One. Gary’s collection spans the genre of history, Australiana and includes several first and limited, editions, and many more signed copies. Martin Worship shines in his deployment, eventually to become a specialist ordnance expert, which catches the eye of the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. From such humble beginnings, in time he successfully completes a number of covert missions which takes him to overseas precarious assignments, including France, Argentina and East Africa. His eventual appointment as Director of Operations of Mi5 was met with controversy, as previous British Secret Service candidates were selected from the inner sanction of the British Establishment. He tries his best to balance family life, and the commitments he endues in the very heart of enemy territory. His escapades are fought with danger and gripping circumstances. A rollercoaster read from cover to cover. Book Numbers 513 Pages English 1129 KB SHOP NOW Book Gallery Previous Next

  • Asian Antiquities

< Back Asian Antiquities Nepal, Indonesia, Tibet are only a few places Gary has collected treasures from throughout his travels. It is the fine detail, the history and beauty that attracted Gary to collecting Asian antiquities. In the 70’s based in Darwin, access to Asia was relatively simple and he found himself travelling there to pursue his hobby of photography. Attracted by the colours and the architecture, he would travel throughout Southeast Asia in pursuit of the perfect photo. He found he really enjoyed the history and small, delicate collectibles that reflected on these wonderful cultures and places in the world. Over the last 50 years, Gary has collected over 30 pieces of Asian art. Art that dates back from the 18th century to more modern pieces and predominately from Indonesia, Tibet, Nepal, Japan and China. • The Carpet Seller

< Back The Carpet Seller Tahsin Demir buys an antique carpet, triggering a chain of events including murder, romance, theft, and intrigue as it's discovered to be a valuable artifact. Tahsin Demir runs a carpet shop in the Grand Bazaar of Istanbul. His life changes when a young boy walks into his store to offer him an antique carpet for sale. After close inspection, Tahsin realizes that the carpet was no ordinary piece. After purchasing it he asks a friend, Professor Mehmet Okman, a world authority on Oriental carpets to evaluate his find. Okman confirms that the carpet was presented to Kaiser Wilhelm II by the Sultan Mahmed V in 1917 when the Kaiser visited Turkey. Little did Demir know the consequences that would manifest after the carpet was deemed to be authentic: Murder, jealousy, romance, grand theft and intrigue were all to follow when Grace Moreland and Ryan Thomas from the New York Metropolitan Museum of Art, visited Istanbul to see if this was in-fact, the treasure that was stolen from the museum in 1951. A fast paced thriller, which visits Turkey, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Australia, Greece and the United States of America.
